The Town of Milton’s Corporate Services Department is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of SharePoint Developer.  Reporting to the Manager, Technology Architecture & Security this position is responsible for the configuration and management of the SharePoint application and servers in the SharePoint farm.  This role also configures and manages a SharePoint development environment, designs, develops and maintains SharePoint architecture and complex software solutions and provides tier 1-tier 3 technical support and training to end users.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Responsible for the long-term strategic plan for SharePoint development, including; creating, configuring, implementing and managing the document management framework, developing standards for technical design, and recommending features and applications based on business goals and stakeholder requirements
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses of proposed SharePoint implementations, enhancements, and modifications
  • Develop and recommend policies for SharePoint management and support, including change control, accessibility, and availability of Enterprise content

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Contribute to planning budgets for SharePoint development, maintenance and support
  • Design and implement modifications, improvements or replacement of SharePoint components based upon research, trends and standards in support of delivery improvement efforts
  • Interact with the corporate web team, communications and other departments to continually evolve and improve web delivery and integration with corporate apps and processes
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and enforcement of policies, procedures, and associated training for SharePoint Intranet and document management usage
  • Contribute to establishing or modifying connectivity and uptime, service level agreements

Operational Management

  • Develop and maintain complex software solutions based on Microsoft SharePoint 201x, SharePoint Designer, InfoPath forms, Web Services and .Net Framework
  • Monitor and analyze SharePoint performance across the organization by identifying and remedying performance bottlenecks, monitoring traffic and throughput to determine its effect on performance, and recommending enhancements to meet new or changing demands
  • Baseline and ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of implementations and integrations
  • In collaboration with Communications & Marketing, responsible for creating, maintaining, and communicating a consistent SharePoint site architectural structure across the organization’s divisions and departments to ensure a consistent look and feel across the SharePoint sites
  • Work with the database administrator to design, develop, and update databases as they pertain to SharePoint implementations
  • Set and enforce compatibility and interoperability standards that ensure site accessibility for all users
  • Provide back-up support to the Web Developer role as required

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology
  • MCITP including SharePoint and MSSQL certification
  • 3-5 years’ SharePoint development, design, maintenance, and security management
  • Demonstrated SharePoint Windows 201x, and MSSQL 201x experience in large deployments
  • Experience with Web-database integration and a range of database platforms, including MSSQL and Oracle
  • Knowledge of responsive Web authoring, development and monitoring tools including; html5, CSS, JS, ASP, Google Analytics, SharePoint, iCreate, Form Builder, and D2L
  • Strong understanding of communications, marketing, and customer service principles, and experience with Web content management, computer graphic, and multimedia design
  • Demonstrated ability to apply technology solutions to business problems
  • Passion for continuous improvement in technology solutions and emerging Web technologies
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and methodology and experience managing technical projects
  • Strong aptitude for planning, organizing, and motivating team members in working towards a common goal
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to technology issues

Salary Range: $69,140 - 86,424
