What will you be doing?

As an Inclusion Support Worker you will assist with supporting and integrating campers with exceptionalities 4 – 18 years of age, into our Summer Camp programs. You will provide campers the opportunity to build friendships and learn new skills. This position reports to the Inclusion Coordinator.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Providing one-to-one or two-to-one support to campers with exceptionalities, ensuring that activities are safe, fun and appropriate
  • Ensuring a safe and well-supervised camp environment, while encouraging campers to actively participate and foster relationships
  • Utilizing the “All about me” information guide provided by the Inclusion Coordinator to best meet the individual needs of each camper and adapt daily activities to ensure the inclusivity of the program
  • Assisting with tasks of personal care including; changing, toileting and feeding as required
  • Ensuring program delivery upholds the principles of HIGH FIVE®
  • Performing all other duties as assigned
  • Maintaining a complete understanding of our standard operating procedures, and supporting the Inclusion Coordinator in applying the established rules and guidelines that oversees the safety and conduct of campers
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with the camp team to ensure all campers are having a fun and positive experience
  • Developing a positive working relationship with colleagues and striving to create a camp environment that promotes respect and inclusion
  • Communicating with parents/guardians about the camper’s day at camp. Sharing reminders, successes and challenges
  • Keeping all camp areas clean, tidy, and safe for all campers
  • Reporting all accidents, incidents, concerns or site damage to the Inclusion Coordinator, ensuring all appropriate forms are completed
  • Wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment as it relates to Occupational Health and Safety Act, and adhering to all established departmental safety standards and practices

What will we need from you?

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, to a maximum of 44 hours. Hours vary based on program registrations. This position typically works a full camp day, Monday - Friday
  • Attendance at paid, short, bi-weekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours
  • Attendance at paid, mandatory trainings that occur during evenings and weekends throughout May and June

What skills and experience are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 16 years of age
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a children’s camp environment
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with persons with exceptionalities
  • Knowledge of program adaptations and behaviour modification techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Completion of a Leadership in Training (LIT) program an asset
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) required
  • Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) or equivalent is required. Training will be provided to successful candidates if required
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C certification required
  • Able to perform all activities including but not limited to: lifting a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Must be able to Swim
  • Under the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon employment


Hourly Rate: $16.70 -$18.77
