Position Summary

 The Town of Milton’s Community Service Department is accepting applications for the part-time position of Aquafit Instructor. Reporting to the Coordinator, Recreation, this position is responsible for providing a safe and welcoming environment while delivering aquafit programs/classes that are appropriate for all levels and abilities of participants.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and conduct aquafit programs following the required industry standards
  • Modify the program to appeal to all fitness levels of the program participants
  • Provide a safe learning environment
  • Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere for participants to actively participate
  • Set-up and take down required equipment
  • Maintain a safe, clean facility; including proper usage and storage of equipment
  • Report any accidents, incidents, concerns or site damage to the immediate Supervisor
  • Maintain and submit attendance records
  • Submit all required forms ensuring accuracy and completeness of information to immediate Supervisor
  • Establish positive relationships, clear communication channels and work cooperatively with all staff and participants
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Attend and participate in mandatory staff functions: training, meetings and allocated program times
  • Comply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Perform all other duties as assigned in accordance with department objectives

 Qualifications

  • CALA or WaterArt or AQX aquafitness instructor certification
  • Superior instructional and coaching skills
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C” certification
  • In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon employment.

 Starting Hourly Rate: $28.07

The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on the condition of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to provide proof of vaccination. Fully vaccinated is defined as having received the completed series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine, as recommended by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health and having received the final dose at least 14 days before your employment start date.

The candidate will be asked to provide the Town with proof of full vaccination, prior to their employment start date. Acceptable proof is a Ministry of Health Dose Administration Receipt (or such other proof of vaccination that the Province of Ontario sanctions). The requirement to be fully vaccinated is subject to the Ontario Human Rights Code. If the candidate is unable to vaccinate for a reason protected by the Code, a request for accommodation can be requested and written proof satisfactory to the Town will be required.
