What will you be doing?

As a Summer Camp Supervisor, you will help children make memories leading and supervising our Summer Camp program. Campers range from 4 – 17 years. You will be responsible for the administration, program delivery and supervision of Town of Milton camp programs to ensure all activities are safe, fun and appropriate. This position reports to the Camp Coordinator.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Creating fun and exciting daily activity plans with the Camp Coordinator that uphold the principles of HIGH FIVE®
  • Planning and facilitating site-specific training for Summer Camp Program Leaders, and supporting the Camp Leadership Team in facilitating camp training
  • Providing effective leadership, mentorship, and supervision to Summer Camp Program Leaders, ensuring all performance expectations are being met, and conducting performance evaluations as required
  • Supervising all aspects of the camp setting – opening/closing, set–up/takedown, inventory of program supplies/equipment and maintaining program supplies/equipment
  • Scheduling weekly swim buddies, liaising with Aquatics Staff regarding swim programming, and acting as a swim buddy in the water during camp swims as required
  • Making weekly phone calls to confirm planned trips/special guests and associated administrative tasks
  • Providing support to ICAN (Integrated Care for Assisted Needs) program (as required)
  • Actively participating in the daily delivery of programming to ensure the program quality is safe and fun for all participants
  • Carry out HIGH FIVE® Staff recognition program
  • Complete Quest 2 evaluations for required camp sites
  • Providing administrative support to the Camp Coordinator as required
    • Adhering to all established departmental safety standards and practices
    • Performing all other duties as assigned
  • Maintaining a complete understanding of our standard operating procedures, and supporting the Camp Coordinator in applying the established rules and guidelines that oversee the safety and conduct of campers
  • Communicating with parents/guardians about the camper’s day; sharing reminders, successes and challenges


What will we need from you?

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, to a maximum of 44 hours. Hours vary based on program registrations. This position typically works a full camp day, Monday - Friday
  • Attendance at paid, short, bi-weekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours
  • Attendance at paid, mandatory trainings that occur during evenings and weekends throughout May and June


What skills and experience are we looking for?

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution for upcoming Fall Semester; documentation/proof of registration as a full-time student must accompany the application
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in a camp environment; supervisory and program planning experience preferred
  • Experience working with persons with exceptionalities is considered an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification required
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) required
  • Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) or equivalent is required
  • The successful candidate(s) is required to travel between camp sites.  Access to transportation to travel between work locations in a timely manner is required
  • Under the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon employment.

Hourly Rate: $17.41 - $19.56
