Description

What will you be doing?

As an Inclusion Coordinator, you will be responsible for the supervision of Inclusion Support Workers and the administration and oversight of our integrated and segregated summer camp programs for campers with exceptionalities, 4-18 years of age.  This position reports to the Coordinator, Recreation – Children, Youth and Inclusion.

 

What will you be responsible for?

  • Coordinating the intake process of campers; meeting with parents in advance of camp to complete required documentation and gain a better understanding of the camper’s individual needs  
  • Supervision of Inclusion Support Workers and ensuring all performance expectations are met, and performance evaluations completed
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of camp policies and procedures, and supporting the enforcement of established rules and guidelines governing the safety and conduct of campers
  • Reviewing registration numbers weekly, and scheduling staff accordingly, ensuring appropriate supervision ratios, including the scheduling of breaks
  • Providing administrative support to the Coordinator, Recreation, with the facilitation of inclusion camp training and administrative support as required
  • Collecting and approving staff timesheets weekly and inputting bi-weekly payroll
  • Completing Quest 2 evaluations for required camp sites
    • Carrying out HIGH FIVE® staff recognition program and staff appreciation activities and events
    • Visiting camp sites daily and participating in camps to ensure quality program delivery
    • Reporting any incidents, concerns or site damage to the Coordinator, Recreation ensuring all appropriate forms are completed accurately
      • Adhering to all established departmental safety standards and practices
      • Performing all other duties as assigned
  • Providing effective leadership to Inclusion Support Workers
  • Ensuring all staff have current qualifications on file
  • Purchasing, tracking and inventory of all adaptive equipment, keeping within allotted budget
  • Supporting Inclusion Support Workers with program adaptations or alternative program options if required, ensuring the inclusion of campers of all abilities and needs
  • Addressing parent/guardian concerns and communicating to the Coordinator, Recreation all necessary parental/public concerns and all camper accidents and incidents
  • Assisting with tasks of personal care including; changing, toileting and feeding as required
  • Documenting and administering medication to camper(s) as outlined in our medication policy (when required)
  • Wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as it relates to the Occupational Health and Safety Act

 

What will we need from you?

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, to a maximum of 44 hours. Hours vary based on program registrations. This position typically works a full camp day, Monday - Friday
  • Attendance at paid, mandatory trainings that occur during evenings and weekends throughout May and June
  • Attendance at paid, short, bi-weekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours

 

What skills and experience you will bring to the team?

  • Attending or completion of a degree/diploma program in Social Work, Recreation or related discipline
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working with persons with exceptionalities and diverse backgrounds
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working in a camp environment, with program planning and organizational experience preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience required
  • Knowledge of program adaptations and behaviour modification techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) is required
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C is required
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) required
  • Quest 2 certification required
  • Must be able to Swim

Hourly Rate: $19.60 – $22.03
