Description

The Department of Community Services, Operations Division requires Seasonal Maintenance Operators for the Winter season from October 30, 2023 - March 31, 2024.

 

Work Schedule

Must be able to work 40 hours per week on days, afternoon or midnight shifts, including overtime hours.

 

Major Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Assists with winter park and sidewalk maintenance activities of salting, sanding and plowing
  • General maintenance, cleanup duties and safety checks of Town sidewalks, parks, open spaces and outdoor ice rinks
  • Operates assigned vehicles and equipment including but not limited to trackless and attachments, snowblowers, gators, tractors, one ton trucks, power tools and radio communications
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance and cleaning of assigned equipment and tools
  • Performs manual labour such as shoveling and requires lifting over 60 lbs.
  • Submits neat and complete written and electronic records including time sheets, maintenance history report forms and other records as directed
  • Complies with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with Department objectives

Education and Experience

  • Secondary School Diploma required and/or any equivalent combination of training and or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Applicants should possess a minimum of two years’ park experience.
  • Minimum G license with Class DZ is preferred.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate and WHMIS training are considered an asset.
  • Applicants must also be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and have mechanical aptitude
  • Qualified to operate vehicles including tractors, pickup trucks, and 1 ton dump trucks.
  • Ensures that proper safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather.
  • Performs manual labour requiring lifting over 60 lbs.
  • The successful candidates must have a clean driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving habits. A recent driver abstract within 30 days will be required. Persons with 4 or more demerit points need not apply. 

Hourly Rate: $27.63 (Currently Under Review)
